Nontobeko Thandeka Ngema popularly known as Mawhoo is a talented South African Artist, Model, Singer, Songwriter, Actress and soloist. The singer is dynamic and unique with her pattern of music, melodious voice and her great sense of fashion. Due to her unique fashion style, she is regarded as the most beautiful South African Singer.
Mawhoo’s music falls under the Amapiano genre, a popular music style in South Africa that blends jazz, Kwaito music, and Soulful. As a result of her increasing popularity and substantial fan base, the artist has collaborated with several international and local musicians, Bagging multiple awards and endorsements.
Biography
Mawhoo was born 16th December 1994 (Age 29), in KwaZulu-Natal. MaWhoo is from a broken home. She grew up without the presence of a father. Like in many cases of absentee dads, MaWhoo was catered for by his mother and her maternal families. In an interview with L-Tido, she revealed she never met her father and don’t know him.
She grew up and was raised in the coastal city, where she attended Queen Nandi Primary School and then proceeded to Bhekeshowe high School where she stopped at grade 9, thence she continued the rest of her high school from 10 to 12 at Kwasanti Public school in Durban, South Africa.
Mawhoo at an early age realized her talent and dreams in modeling and singing. She also has the sense of entrepreneurship, where she started her small fashion business in order to further her education and music career.
Nontobeko Thandeka Ngema studied at the University of South Africa (UNISA). During her school years, she was passionate about modeling, fashion, and music.
Mawhoo is vast with South Africa’s cultural diversity, where she speaks over five languages which includes Zulu, Ndebele, Xhosa, Swati, Sotho and English.
Career
After graduating from the University of South Africa (UNISA), the singer signed a record label deal with Mabala Noise, one of the most branded music label in South Africa.
Mawhoo released her debut single titled ‘Umshado’ in 2019, and the song paved the way for her music career, garnering over 5 million views on all streaming platforms. She has also collaborated with several artists, including DJ Maphorisa, Kabza De Small, and Heavy K.
Controversy
In March 6, 2024 during a live interview with L-Tido, MaWhoo revealed that she has multiple men on her DM, including Lil Wayne, Rick Rose and Jay Z. When fans began dragging her for proves of these DM from the A-listers, MaWhoo shared a screenshot of a chat with Lil Wayne.
Relationship
MaWhoo has been involved in many relationship controversies. In 2023, she was accused of dating and snatching Londie London’s man. MaWhoo has a boyfriend whose identity hasn’t been revealed to the public yet.

mawhoo is a talented vocalist, I love her so much. I wish she can focus on building her career and I am not saying she’s not. but this media industry is very tough and very cruel.
