“Myeke” by Mshinwemali, Chulumanco M & Sne Ntuli Hits 1 Million Views In 7 Days

The numbers Maskandi artists pull are enough to prove that the genre is one of the biggest in the country. Just because it is mostly sung in Zulu and features heavy traditional rhythms does not take away from the fact that this genre is massive. Today, we are here with proof.
Last weekend, Mshinwemali, Chulumanco M and Sne Ntuli dropped their long-awaited, powerful collaboration, “Myeke,” and in just around seven days, it has amassed 1 million streams on YouTube alone. That’s not even counting the numbers it has pulled on Spotify and iTunes.
One million streams in seven days is a massive achievement. In fact, even artists in mainstream genres like Amapiano, House and 3-Step would struggle to pull these numbers within such a short window. This once again proves that Maskandi is the sound of the kasi and the melody not just of taxi ranks, but of the South African people.
“Myeke” is taken from Mshinwemali and Chulumanco M’s seven-track EP, Awulutho Wena. If you haven’t listened to this melodious offering yet, you should do so now!
