In the early hours of Tuesday, 12 May 2026, it was confirmed that prominent Mpumalanga taxi boss Joe Sibanyoni, popularly known as “Mr Ferrari,” had been arrested by security operatives.

Joe Sibanyoni is one of the most influential taxi owners not only in Mpumalanga but in the entire country. The 60-year-old businessman commands a large fleet of vehicles and was recently linked to alleged underworld figures, including the notorious Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala.
As part of the government’s efforts to dismantle criminal syndicates and ensure that all those involved are brought to justice, the Special Task Force raided the home of Joe Sibanyoni, whose name has allegedly surfaced repeatedly during testimony before the Madlanga Commission.
According to eNCA, the businessman is currently being held at a police station in Middelburg and is expected to face charges of extortion.
