The Spring Day celebration in South Africa is usually filled with lots of kids pouring water on people. While these kids might take it as fun, some people don’t, and if some situations are not properly handled, they can turn bloody, as we can see with the story of Tshepang Nyathi, who was stabbed to death by a 53-year-old man.

Tshepang Nyathi, who was 21 years old, alongside some kids, was said to be pouring water on the elderly man. The man warned them a couple of times, but being young, they ignored his warning and kept pouring water on him, all for the sake of the Spring Day celebration.

The man eventually took matters into his own hands, and things quickly went bloody. It was alleged that he drew out a knife and stabbed Tshepang Nyathi, who died on the spot. Although the man was apprehended by the youths around, the police came to de-escalate the situation and eventually arrested the man.

Response From the Government

The South African government has issued condolences to the family and friends of Tshepang Nyathi. The government also warned that while they are not against the celebration by kids, it should be done responsibly and in good manners.
