The Sad Story of Xichavo Ntsanwisi

Gender-based violence in South Africa is at an all-time high, and we can hardly go a week or two without hearing a tragic story of someone losing their life to it. Recently, Mr. Xichavo Ntsanwisi became a victim, losing his life after his girlfriend, Miss Jo-Ann Ntokoto Mabasa, allegedly stabbed him to death.

Background
Xichavo Ntsanwisi was Born May 21, 1994 (Aged 31 years old) and hails from Mhinga village outside Malamulele. He’s a normal guy, with a normal life but with a big love for anything construction works. He was a quantity surveyor, construction project manager, engineering technician, and building scientist.

His expertise in the construction industry was so vast that his expertise was sort by some of the biggest construction companies in the country, including the Greater Giyani Municipality, where he was an employee.

Relationship with Jo-Ann Ntokoto Mabasa
Xichavo Ntsanwisi was in a relationship with Jo-Ann Ntokoto Mabasa, a 22-year-old Midrand woman from Kremetart in Giyani, Limpopo. Like most relationships, it started with love and over the years, they fell out of love.

According to friends, the duo once had a good relationship. In fact, Xichavo Ntsanwisi was often seen flaunting his girlfriend on several occasions.

Problems began when Xichavo Ntsanwisi started paying less attention to Ntokozo. As an obsessed woman, she felt threatened and abandoned. In a video posted on her YouTube page in May 2025, she threatened to kill Xichavo Ntsanwisi because he had stopped paying attention to her and was instead spending more time with his friends.

Death
In the early hours of Monday, 22 September 2025, Ntokoto Mabasa arrived at Xichavo Ntsanwisi’s residence in Colnbrook Estate in Noordwyk, Midrand, where he stabbed him to death in his kitchen.

Ntokoto Mabasa put a stab wound to the upper chest near the neck with a knife, an injury that resulted to his death. Upon the arrival of the Paramedics who declared Ntsanwisi dead on the scene, Ntokoto Mabasa was taken into custody.

Mabasa is expected to appear in court soon on a charge of murder while police investigations continue.
