Mathibe not only excelled academically but also athletically, representing South Africa in basketball at the age of 16.

“When I was younger, I excelled at sports and was very active. In high school, I decided I wanted to be a doctor; I wasn’t sure what sort, but I knew I needed to make it happen.I lost my father in standard 9, who was the one I had to be proud of since he promised that when I returned from school, he would go out there and build me the largest medical center. Despite the difficulty of losing him and my passion for basketball, I knew I had to keep the dream alive and pursue a career as a doctor.”

Medical Career

Dr. Pertunia Mathibe studied bachelor of medicine in surgery at Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University for six years, completing it through hard work and determination. After finishing her degree, she completed a two-year internship and one year of community service in Limpopo. After community service, she served and worked for the government for roughly two to three years, focusing on emergency units and obstetrics, where she performed numerous C-sections and delivered infants.

The process of launching my private practice, trying to get things in order, repaying my scholarship, performing locums and calls in casualty and obstetrics in Limpopo and Gauteng, and trying to find something that would marry my cosmetic interest with my surgical competence was a difficult one.

Dr. Pert Mathibe explains that in 2011, she became interested in the beauty aspect of medicine and enrolled in an aesthetics course at the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine, which visits South Africa twice a year. She claims to have received a diploma from the university, which now serves as the foundation for her current revolutionary work in regaining body confidence. “Because I lacked cash, my aesthetic diploma degree began to gather dust. The machinery was quite expensive, and the setup needed to be perfect. I kept working as a medical officer and established a general practice in Grobersdal.

After coaching someone on aesthetics, I decided to start with what I had, which at the time was only my hands, and see where it went me. In 2017, I launched a modest aesthetic office and performed minor procedures like as drips and weight loss, but I thought I could do more. “In 2018, I began using Botox and fillers. It was a major change for me because I had always been afraid of needles, but it was quite fulfilling to see people’s faces change. I also began performing more complicated operations, such as breast augmentation and non-surgical gynaecological aesthetics, which included sexual rejuvenation.”
