Thato Molupe popularly known as “Wave Rhyder” is a Lesotho artist, singer, songwritter, performer and producer. Wave Rhyder is a soloist singer with a unique voice, his style of music is blended with Afro pop, Hip Hop and infused Amapiano sounds.
His songs brings inspiration, hope and motivation to his fans and his lyrical contents are versatile. The singer was greatly influenced by his parents who were gospel singers, and his songs reflects his passion and gratitude to God for the gift of singing given to him.
Thato Molupe (Wave Rhyder) Early Life and Age
Thato Molupe (age 24 years old) was born in Morija, a small town in western Lesotho. The singer loved music from his early age and he was greatly influenced by his parents who are gospel singers. Thato Molupe had an ambition to become a pastor while growing up which is due to his love for God and the influence of his christain family.
Morija is a pre-historical place which reflects important historic and cultural history. It is the site of the Lesotho’s first mission (French protestant mission), and it host several historical buildings like the 19th century Lesotho Evangelical church and several other other Houses and Museums.
He singer spent about 12 years in his home town Morija, then he moved to Maseru, which is the country’s capital and largest city of Lesotho. Molupe adopted the stage name (Wave Rhyder) from his uncle and the name means “Being on top of things and riding the sound waves”.
The singer music genre is infused afro pop bended with Hip hop and Amapiano sounds.

The artist is currently signed to Ambitiouz Entertainment and his career is on a progressive path and he is currently referred to as the face of Lesotho with his amazing sounds and art. In 2019, he released his debut song titled ‘Ts’ela bo tlale’ which sold several copies in Lesotho and gained over a million streams across several digital music stores. ‘Ts’ela bo tlale’ opened doors for him, as the song was played on radio, TV music channels, interviews and also increased the artist earnings via bookings and reservations.
