Mlungisi Khuzani Ndlovu, also known by his stage name uGatsheni, is a talented South African vocalist. Hailing from Pongola, KwaZulu-Natal, uGatsheni embarked on his musical journey in 2012 at the age of 22. His studio album titled “Inhlupheko” released in 2022 achieved great commercial success, selling over 20,000 copies and earning a Platinum certification from the Recording Industry of South Africa.

Ugatsheni made the bold decision to leave KwaZulu-Natal and relocate to Gauteng in pursuit of advancing his career. He scooped the prestigious Song of the Year award at the South African Traditional Music Awards (Satmas) on Saturday, October 1st, for his captivating track “Emendweni” from his 2021 album, “Inhlupheko.” In an interview with Daily Sun, he expressed his newfound confidence in proclaiming himself a national artist.
Currently based in Joburg, the singer shared his excitement upon receiving the nomination, although he never anticipated winning in his decade-long career. Despite not winning the Best Maskandi Artist category, he was pleasantly surprised when his name was announced for the top accolade, describing it as an indescribable feeling.Ugatsheni embarked on his maskandi journey in 2012, which proved to be a challenging endeavor. Initially using his real name, he eventually decided to change it to differentiate himself from another singer in his province, ensuring that people understood his unique identity.
