The Story of Palesa Mofokeng
Palesa Pebbles Mofokeng was a 33 years old teacher from Vereeniging who was assassinated on Friday, 05 April 2024 in Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng.
Background
Palesa Pebbles Mofokeng was a teacher at Riverside High School and also an entrepreneur. She was a prominent businesswoman involved in the marketing of clothes, shoes, and makeup products.
As a graduate of North-West University Vaal, Palesa Pebbles Mofokeng had always been passionate about education. After graduating, she secured a job as a secondary teacher. While teaching, she pursued her other passions in makeup and cosmetics.
Assassination
On Friday, 05 April 2024, Palesa Pebbles Mofokeng was shot in Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng while she was on her Nissan NP200 bakkie. She was certified dead on the scene after sustaining multiple bullet wounds on her body.
Arrest
Immediately after shots were fired at Palesa Pebbles Mofokeng at the robots, the police immediately swept into action and tracked the suspects, who were driving a Honda FRV motor vehicle.
That very moment, the Tactical Response Team, K9, Tracking team, and Provincial Crime Intelligence unit of the South African police traced and eventually arrest the suspects.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that suspects, who were driving a Honda FRV motor vehicle, shot the woman while at the robots… Police immediately established a task team consisting of Sedibeng District Trio Task Team, Tactical Response Team, K9, Tracking team, and Provincial Crime Intelligence to trace and arrest the suspects,” Gauteng Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo said.
Allegedly Involved of Ex-husband
Among those arrested by the South African Police to be involved in the shooting of Palesa Mofokeng was a medical doctor, who is said to be the ex-husband of the deceased.
According to News24, soon after Palesa Mofokeng, was shot and killed, a man claiming to be her ex husband made a claim of R4 million to an insurance company.
Court Appearance
All four suspects are to appear at Vanderbijlpark Magistrates Court on Monday, 08 April 2024, facing a charge of murder.
