Every once in a while, we get introduced to really supper talents that sweep us off our feet and make us whole. This year, Thatohatsi is the breakout star that is making us dance hard again with her sultry vocals and powerful messages.

Background & Biography
Real name Thatohatsi Raphadi, Thatohatsi was born April 21, 2001 (Age 24). She hails from Springs in Gauteng and lived most of her life there.

She is from of stable family, although she was raised by a single mother following the untimely death of her father, she grew up with everything needed for a child to flourish.

As a young girl, she always had the desire to be different. Before venturing into music, she was a fashionista, make-up artist, and model; a skills that allowed her to express her artistic side. While still in school, she pursued this path fully, bagging gigs that helped her settle some financial bills and ease her mother’s burden.

Balancing school and her passion wasn’t an easy feat. She would attend classes from Monday to Friday, and on Friday evenings she went to the studio for a session, only returning on Saturday morning. Once back, she had to prepare for a gig that are sometimes more than one and usually happening that same night. The following day, which was Sunday, she sang at church. Despite this tight schedule, she still managed to graduate with good grades.

Rise To Fame
Thatohatsi’s rise to fame wasn’t a linear path. While her skills as makeup artist and model brought out her artistic side, music was the only thing that made her unique and whole, a means for her to express her emotions and inner self.

While Thatohatsi has been involved in music from a young age, in fact she was a chorister in her church, she became a professional singer in 2022. That year, she released her debut EP and made her first appearance on a radio station at Ligwa FM.

Even as her musical career was taking shape, she never abandoned her passion for modelling. In the same year, she secured gigs with eKasi Fashion Week and eventually won.

Her presence began getting better in the Amapiano for her after Visca reposted one of her songs on his story. The following year, she strengthened her presence in East Rand and even after meeting with quite a few celebs and got shoutouts from them, she was still unable to break into the mainstream.

She began getting proper recognition in the Amapiano music scene after she teamed up with ShaunMusiQ & Ftears and Tracy for “Welile.” Featuring 15 songs, the album had hits such as “Kuyabekezelwa” with Mkeyz & Debow and “Welile (cula)” featuring Leemckrazy.

Thatohatsi got her proper break into the mainstream following her majestic delivery in Bo Gogo with Kelvin Momo, Muziqal Chef and Tracy in 2025. The song which amassed over 15 million streams and counting opened the eyes of many to her craft and versatility.
