Sofia Benlemmane Arrested, deported and received a lifetime ban. The Algerian influencer Sofia Benlemmane faced some serious trouble in Ivory Coast including being arrested, deported, and receiving a lifetime ban. Benlemmane’s arrest took place after a video surfaced where she used offensive language and made negative comments about the Ivory Coast during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
In her video that went viral on social media, Benlemmane made some unfavorable comparisons between Ivory Coast and Algeria. She even went as far as claiming that Ivorians were living in conditions similar to the prehistoric era. “They live in misery here. I recorded a video yesterday at the bus station, and it’s the worst, like the prehistoric era.
If I had some powers, I would have brought Algerians here to witness this,” her exact words in the video. She also said “What a difference with Algeria! Long live Algeria. I thank God for giving me a country like Algeria. Normally, Algeria is not supposed to be in Africa. It was supposed to be situated between Portugal and Spain.” in the video.
