Dudu Ngwenya, popularly known as Lady Du, is a popular South African singer, rapper, dancer, vocalist and songwriter. The singer is referred to as the Queen of Afrobeat, She is the daughter of Alias – the owner of the first popular club in Vosloorus township.
In 2021, the singer released his debut song titled “Catalia”, the song was released under Rocka Empire Studios and it featured Mr JazziQ, Mellow, Sleazy and Junior De Rocka. The song had over 20 million streams across several digital platforms including Apple Music, Spotify, Boomplay and Google Music.
On April 28th 2023, the singer released her most anticipated project titled “Song is Queen”, the Album was released under her independent record label “Lady Du Entertainment”. The album featured 15 tracks and it featured several local and international artists including Rekaado Banks, Yemi Alade, Siyakha Khitha, T-Man SA, DJ Riley, Murumba Pitch, Pabi Cooper, Tee Jay, Jonty. Busta 929, Toss, Luu Nineleven, FME DJs, Waykay, Bassie, Mellow & sleavy and several others.
Lady Du Early Life, Career and Age
Lady Du (Age 33) was born on the 16th of May, 1991 in Vosloorus. Vosloorus is a popular township located south of Boksburg, South Africa. Lady Du is the daughter of DJ Choc and niece to DJ Zan-D of YFM. She came from a family of music. She loved music from her early age and she began her musical career in the early 2000’s when she was just 9 years old. According to the singer, “Music is my place of Safety”, she feels safe and at home when there is good music.
Aside, having a promising career in music. Lady Du has an exceptional academic record. She won a Merit-Based scholarship to study Somatology (A branch of biology that concerns the structure and function of the body) in the United Kingdom (UK). From thence, she began exploring over 100 countries around the globe, making new friends and promoting her music career brand.
According to the artist, traveling around the world, shaped her mental reasoning and molded her to become a better artist and person. Her role model in are Will Smith, Aaliyah, J Dilla and Slum Village. Lady Du uses her songwriting style to positivity impact the society and promote unity.
