King Misuzulu Sinqobile Biography and Profile

King Misuzulu Sinqobile is the reigning king of Zulu tribe in South Africa. The Zulu nation consist majorly of Nguni-speaking ethnic group of the Southern Africa Region. The Zulu people are the largest ethnic group of about 14 million people living mostly in the KwaZulu-Natal Province of South Africa. The Zulu people are well known for resisting British colonialism in the early 1800s and the King of the Zulu nation is referred to as the Most Influential Traditional monarch in South Africa.

King Misuzulu is the third-oldest surviving Son of King Goodwill Zwelithini and Queen Mantfombi Dlamini. King Misuzulu was appointed King of Zulu people on the 7th May 2021, but his traditional rites and coronation took place on the 20th August 2022, the coronation was recognized by the President and the Government of South Africa.

King Misuzulu Sinqobile Early Life, Age and Career

King Misuzulu Sinqobile (age 49) was born on the 23rd September, 1974 in Hlabisa, KwaZulu, which is the present day KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. King Misuzulu completed his primary education at his mother’s home country, eSwatini formally known as Swaziland. Thence, he proceeded to St. Charles College, Pietermaritzburg in South Africa.

King Misuzulu ascended to the throne of the Zulu kingdom in 2021 after the death of his father, King Goodwill Zwelithini, who was the longest serving monarch in the Zulu history. The late king ruled for over 50 years and he survived with six wives and several children.

King Misuzulu Sinqobile Legal Disputes, Issues and Controversies

King Misuzulu Sinqobile upon ascension to the throne of the Zulu Kingship, is currently facing several legal battles from faction of the royal family seeking to dethrone him. A faction of the royal family wants Prince Simakade to be the crown King of Zulu nation. Prince Simakade is the first-born Son of the Late Monarch, King Goodwill Zwelithini who was born out of wedlock.

Prince Simakade wants the court to overturn the recognition of King Misuzulu by President Cyril Ramaphosa’s as the rightful heir of Zulu Kingdom. Prince Simakade is disputing the traditional and legal process involved to appoint King Misuzulu Sinqobile as the heir to the throne. Prince Simakade lawyers claims the process used to crown King Misuzulu did not follow the standard procedure according to the laws and customs of Zulu kingdom. The lawyers further argued that the decision and the relevant certificate used to crown King Misuzulu was rushed.

The High Court at North Gauteng, Pretoria, South Africa is hearing the legal arguments for the royal succession battle between King Misuzulu and the faction of the royal family and his half-brother Prince Simakade who believes the throne rightful belongs to him as the first Son of the Late King.
