Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi is an acting governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), He was appointed by the newly elected Nigerian President Bola Tinubu on the 9th of June 2023.
The announcement was made by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. The former CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele was suspended with immediate effect and was directed by the SGF to hand over all affairs and documents regarding CBN to the newly appointed acting Governor Folashodun Adebisi.
Mr. Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi was a member of the board of the Central Bank of Nigeria, and he was the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate) to Godwin Emefiele.

Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi was born on 7th March 1962 in the western part of Nigeria. In 1978, He gained admission to the University of Lagos and in 1983 he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical and Metallurgy Engineering. He further advanced his career to obtain a Master’s degree in the same field at the same University.
He started his work career as a consultant Engineer at Med-ind Associates, then he switched his educational career path from Engineering to finance by studying MBA with a major in Finance and Business.

Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi was the Head of Marketing at the Inlaks Computers from 1989 to 1990, he made a great job switch and he was appointed Head of Treasury Operations at Citibank Nigeria in 1990.
Then in 1993, he joined Agusto & Co. LTD as a Supervising Consultant then he moved to MBC as a GM, Banking Operations and IT.
Then in 1999, He was appointed the Vice President, Operations and IT at First City Monument Bank (FCMB) LTD. In 2003, he joined Ecobank Nigeria Plc as an ED (executive director) Operations and Information Technology.
In 2009, he was appointed Executive Director, Operations and Information Technology and Services at Union Bank of Nigeria LTD. He was also the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS) and in October 2018, he was appointed to CBN by President Muhammadu Buhari.
On the 9th June 2023, Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi was appointed as an acting governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) President Bola Tinubu following the immediate suspension of Mr. Godwin Emefiele.
