Real name Nelson Joshua Jansen, Skroef28 was born on March 6, 2001 (Age 25), and hails from Meadowlands, Soweto, where he was also raised. Having grown up in the kasi, he developed a passion for music at an early age. While still a student at Meadowlands High School, he began his journey as a producer, first starting as a bedroom producer and continued refining his craft after matriculating.
As a young man with big dreams, he was quickly drawn to Amapiano, largely inspired by his idol and mentor, Mdu aka TRP. His mentor motivated him to venture into music production shortly after finishing high school in 2019. That same year, he released his first compiled mixtape, which was widely accepted and gave him a solid start in the industry.
Thanks to his good relationship with Mdu aka TRP, Skroef28 was able to secure a spot at PianoHub. In 2020, he was signed to the label, gaining access to quality studio equipment and opportunities to collaborate directly with industry legends such as Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa.

Although Skroef28 was already known in the South African music scene, he did not enjoy the same visibility as other A-list Amapiano artists. However, that changed in 2026 when clips from his live performance at the Clappers Friday Amapiano session on YouTube went viral across social media platforms, including Twitter (now X).
