How To Apply For The Cleaning Position At The Parliament of South Africa

The Parliament of the Republic of South Africa has made General Cleaner positions available. The vacancy was advertised a few days ago and will close on 6 February 2026. A total of seven (7) positions are available.

Applicants who successfully pass the screening process will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order within Parliament, which comprises two Houses: the National Assembly and the National Council of Provinces. Successful candidates will be required to perform effective and efficient general cleaning services in accordance with relevant cleaning standards and requirements.

Responsibilities

Successful applicants will be responsible for the following:

  1. Cleaning of office spaces and occupied areas
  2. Cleaning of public spaces and common areas
  3. Compliance with health and safety standards

Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum requirement: Grade 10
  • Grade 11 or an equivalent NQF Level 3 qualification will be an advantage
  • Two (2) years’ relevant experience
  • Ability to read, write, and follow schedules and instructions
  • Ability to adapt easily to change
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and shifts
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety standards related to cleaning processes and activities
  • Knowledge of office cleaning procedures and processes
  • Experience in using industrial cleaning machines and equipment (e.g., vacuum cleaners, carpet cleaners, etc.)
