Before serving jail time, Aaron Sloan was a victim of gun violence. He was shot six times, with bullets piercing his limbs and ears. Destined for greatness, Aaron Sloan survived the battle between life and death, although it was a tough ride for him.
While in prison, he battled hearing impairment and infections as a result of being shot. Determined to succeed amidst the violence and chaos, Aaron Sloan started working on his mental and physical strength. Some days, he does about 2,500 decline push-ups while consuming powerful books that prepare him for the outside world.
“I had to change the Hood mentality to manifest a better reality. I’m not proud of the things I used to indulge in. I can’t change my past. But I can redefine my future. I was shot 6 times for those of you with the jokes about my teeth and legs. I got hit in the nose and had a bullet lodged in my ear for 5 years. I was in prison hearing impaired with an infection in the midst of violence and chaos everyday. I was weak from getting hit in the knee twice and 3 times in the thigh I was very frail. But I knew I had to get strong fast or I wouldn’t make it out of prison alive. I knew first I had to get in tune with my spirituality and educate myself (because I didn’t know anything worth of sustenance). I started saying prayers before my workouts and reading.” – Aaron Sloan revealed on his socials.
