Winter season is an exceptional time of the year filled with lots of experiences, vacations and family bonding. Winter season is the coldest season in the year’s calendar, as it comes with a harsh freezing temperatures and a very cold climate conditions.

Effects of Cold

Although, the winter season is beautiful and full of fun and excitement, the Human body is highly responsive to cold, as delayed and prolonged exposure to cold causes;

1.Hypothermia – is a medical condition where the human body rapidly lose heat thereby causing a high reduction in body temperature affecting the heart, nervous system and other vital organs which might result to damage in the body system.

2.Frostbite – Is an injury caused by prolonged exposure to cold thereby affecting the skin. Frostbite usually results to loss of feelings and sensation on the skin most especially fingers and toes.

3.Trench foot – Occurs when there is high exposure to cold and it results to numbness, pain, swelling, itching and an uncomfortable feelings in the foot.

4.And other respiratory diseases

Ways to keep warm during the winter

Keeping warm during the winter is good for the body to prevent loss of body temperature due to cold climate condition, and some of the ways to keep warm is as follows;

1. Eat healthy and warm food.

2. Taking a warm bath

3. Engaging in physical exercises

4. Avoid stay outdoor for a prolonged time

5. Wear good Layering clothes to always keep warm

6. Keeping the house warm always

7. Wear good protective footwears, boots and socks

8. Use hand gloves during outdoor activities

9. Have a healthy sleep and rest

10. Cover all the house windows and doors to maintain room temperature.
