Edwin Sodi is a popular South African Businessman, a property developer, Philanthropist, Entrepreneur and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Blackhead Consulting – an International Business firm in South Africa. Aside being a successful Entrepreneur and a business mogul, Edwin Sodi is also a political analyst, known for his generous donations and support to several politicians in South Africa, especially those from the African National Congress (ANC).
Edwin Sodi, being a business tycoon, is one of the biggest spender and ballers in South Africa. His humanitarian contributions to several communities in Mzansi have been noteworthy, especially his role in the restructuring of the public sector in the Gauteng Provincial Government. Sodi’s Philanthropy and Humanitarian activities in the province of Gauteng has made him win the hearts of many locals. Aside from his philanthropic works, Edwin Sodi is notorious for his corrupt sharp practices and he’s regarded by many South Africans as one of the most corrupt enterpreneur in the country.

Edwin Sodi was born on the 26th September 1973 (Age 51) in Gauteng, South Africa. Edwin Sodi had his primary and secondary education in Gauteng, and like most people who grew up in pre-apartheid South Africa, Sodi wasn’t a privileged kid. However, that didn’t stop him. According to locals, he was always focused on his educational career, and he was outspoken from an early age.
Edwin Sodi has a progressive career path. He is a well-known Entrepreneur and Businessman. He founded Blackhead Consulting in 2004 with a group of business minded people, a company that provides professional services in the engineering and project management environment. While in Blackhead Consulting, Sodi worked in various capacities including Chairman, Board of Director, Board Level where he provided great business analysis and projections to expand the organization and make profit.
How Edwin Sodi Became a Million
Being a property developer and a member of one of the biggest political party in South Africa, Edwin Sodi was able to secure a big contract with the Free State government to renovate decaying houses in the province. Edwin Sodi through his Blackhead Consulting was expected to count the numbers of houses with asbestos roof and he’s to report back to the department of housing in the province and give an estimate of how much would be needed to complete the contract and how many houses needed to be upgraded.
Unfortunately, Edwin Sodi connived with some members of the provincial housing department and they inflated the price and budget of the project. With that contract alone, Edwin Sodi was able to amass millions of dollars illegally.
Despite the asbestos scandal, Edwin Sodi continued to receive tenders from the government. In 2019, he was awarded a R295m contract to refurbish the Rooiwal water treatment plant which experienced various challenges in the purification of waste water, but Edwin Sodi through his Blackhead Consulting never completed the project.
The Asbestos Tender Scandal & Arrest
After he was named as one of the key benefactor of the R255 million scandal, a tender that was jointly awarded to him and late Ignatius Mpambani, The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI), commonly known as the Hawks was able pin Edwin Sodi and his associates in 2020, 5 years after the AG in July 2015 flagged the Asbestos contract as irregular.
Edwin Sodi was later granted bail and released on a cash bail of R500,000. Nevertheless, the fraud case and investigations persisted.
Assets Forfeiture
In 2020, the National Prosecuting Authority’s (NPA) asset forfeiture unit seized several of Edwin Sodi’s possessions, including 29 cars, 27 properties, 19 active accounts, and household goods that belonged to him and his company, Blackhead Consulting.
In February of 2024, his 5 bedroom duplex mansion that built on a 44 000 square metres and located in Morningside was put up for sale at an astounding R75-million by Lynn Petzer of Lynn Estates. Prior to the selling of his mansion, several of his other properties were sold at an auction on the 18 of February, including his cars, houses, and company.
In February of 2024, several cars belonging to Edwin Sodi’s company were seized by the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) through Hollard Insurance after he failed to pay the millions of rands he owes.
Assets Recovery
In March of 2024, Sodi initiated attempts to get back some of his assets seized by Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU). He started by purchasing Bach his R75m Morningside mansion back from AFU, this is according to Sunday World.
The said mansion was put up in sales in February of 2024 by Lynn Petzer of Lynn Estates.
Controversies
Since getting the asbestos tender and eventually becoming a million in both Rands and Dollars, Edwin Sodi has been engaged in a lot of controversies. In 2015, his affairs with the Onalerona Moreo, a wife of ProVerb, whose real name is Tebogo Thekiso sparked controversy on social media and this singular act led the the divorce of ProVerb (Tebogo Thekiso) and his wife, Onalerona Moreo.
Edwin Sodi was also notorious for his multiple involvements with women, both married and unmarried. He has spent the latter part of his life in a lavish and flirtatious lifestyle, hosting some of the most beautiful slay queens and influencers in South Africa.

Edwin Sodi was once married to popular television and radio presenter “Nthateng Lerata”, the couples tied the knot in 2012. However, the marriage ended after several years when Edwin Sodi accused his wife of stealing from him.
Edwin Sodi ended his relationship with popular social media influencer and model Nokukhanya Karen Zulu after his assets took a big hit in February of 2024, and he has an estimated networth of $60 million.
