A Look Into The Case of Freddie Stapelberg
Freddie Stapelberg is a 34 years old man who is under investigation for having a hand in the death of his girlfriend Nadine Terblanche(34) and her Son Ruandré Vorster (9).
Biography
Freddie Stapelberg hails from Alberton in the East Rand, Gauteng. He completed his high school at Hoërskool Alberton in 2007, and until his arrest, he served as a Customer Service Manager at Imperial Logistics.
Murder of Nadine Terblanche
On November 27, 2023, Nadine Terblanche and her son were tragically murdered in their home in Alberton. The gardener, Pardon Danhire, was arrested and charged with their murder after Freddie Stapelberg alerted the security. Stapelberg claimed he was immediately attacked with an axe by Danhire the moment he stepped into the house. Further search and observations on the property led to the discovery of the bodies of Nadine Terblanche and her son.
Although the police couldn’t pick any motive for the murder, the gardener was charged to court and on the 29th of November 2023, he made his first appearance before the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court.
Stapelberg’s Involvement in the Death of Nadine Terblanche
Further investigation by the police revealed that Freddie Stapelberg allegedly had a connection in the murder of Nadine Terblanche. He was taken into custody on the 12th of January 2024 and he appeared at the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on January 15, 2024.
According to the indictment, Stapelberg faces two charges of premeditated murder. He is currently being held in Boksburg prison. The state applied on Monday that Stapelberg should therefore be detained in Johannesburg.
Implications Of The Case On Freddie Stapelberg’s Immediate Family
Before entering a romantic relationship with Nadine Terblanche, Freddie Stapelberg was previously married to Natasha. Their marriage lasted for 10 years before their split in 2021. The finalization of his divorce from Natasha was pending when the tragic murder of Nadine Terblanche occurred.
Natasha & Freddie Stapelberg’s marriage was blessed with three daughters and Natasha has said the current legal troubles of her husband is affecting the kids and herself.
Natasha said she has been bullied on Social Media and called all sorts of names, it was so bad that she had to terminate her Facebook page: “On social media, I have been accused of a lot of things and people started taking screenshots of my Facebook Page. It became so bad that I had to delete my entire page. I am not involved and do not know anything about this except what you hear or read on social media,” she said in an interview with Alberton Record.
Natasha hopes her Children will be protected from the ongoing case and if indeed Freddie is guilty, he should be made to face the consequences.
“When I heard the news of Freddie’s arrest, I was shocked and overwhelmed with emotions. This is the father of my children and they lived with him. If guilty, Freddie must face the consequences of his actions,” she said.
